Operation Frontline: Fighting Poverty by teaching how to cook affordable, delicious & healthy meals!
Position Available: Cooking Class Chef, once a week for six weeks, flexible schedule. - Come help others and gain teaching experience!
No prior teaching or nutrition experience required. Training, recipes, class curriculum, food shopping and kitchen materials are provided. Chef demonstrates and involves hands-on a group of 8 to 12 youth or adult students from communities at high risk or suffering from diet-related disease, such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
Share Our Strengths Operation Frontline is a groundbreaking nutrition education program that connects families with food by teaching families how to prepare healthy, tasty, low-cost meals.
Professional chefs and nutritionists volunteer their time and expertise to lead hands-on courses that show adults, teens and kids how to get the most nutrition out of a limited budget.
Operation Frontline has provided nutrition education in 17 cities nationwide. Operation Frontline is managed in each city locally. In Chicago, Near North Health Service Corporation has been providing Operation Frontline since 1993.
Come Cook With Us! Operation Frontline offers six different classes that teach about cooking healthy foods and show cooking can be fun, affordable, delicious and good for your health and the health of your family. Classes are four to six weeks long and taught by Operation Frontline chef and nutrition instructors. The classes include:
Eating Right for adults
Eating Well for persons living with HIV/AIDS and their caretakers
Kids Up Front for children ages 8 to 12
Power of Eating Right for teens
Side by Side for parents and children together
Step Up to Eating Right for teen parents
